It wasn't so simple as what you've heard, the origin of the virus was a flimsy attempt at battling cancer, geneticists imprinted a specialized strain of bacteria with the behavior to find and destroy cancer cells, it was met with mixed success however, as the bacteria did its job, but was quickly overwhelmed by the immune system, this discovery was a launch point for other projects focusing on reprogramming certain bacteria to give "superhuman" mutagenic qualities, which is where some of your Infectors and Slashers came about, so the original project was scrapped and from the ashes a new project emerged: a cure for the AIDs virus, this one was met with astounding success and soon a third project was born, combining the cancerous overtaking of the first and the replification qualities of the second, this new virus was designed to fight off many diseases and virus' the initial tests were met with almost complete failure, a few patients survived and became nearly immune to any malady, but 99% died violent deaths, quickly, a military/government sect snatched up some of the survivors and started the "Geneva Sunder Project" soon it was shown that deceased subjects displayed minute motor functions and diminutive signs of life, initial studies showed the virus had worked far better than expected, it destroyed, absorbed and replicated tissue, i early stages it slowly eroded the immune and circulatory system's before running up to the brain where it destroyed and absorbed all parts that dealt with finer information storage and finer motor functions, in so doing it created a sort of "replica brain" which functioned to twist the survival instincts and control a subject, this was met with curiosity from our scientists, but unfortunately the highly infectious and aggressive qualities pertaining to the infected weren't apparent until "hands on" tests were implemented, after 2 casualties and 10 accidental deaths arising from when said casualties arose from the dead, the infected were contained, the experiments ran for some time without danger of exposure until the time came when the scientists found that the infected would feed on one another, they foolishly mistook this for simple hunger rather than the evolutionary process it really was, we aren't really sure what happened afterword but we know something big happened, and it broke out, infecting the scientists and then heading off to larger cities where the process skyrocketed, to whoever is reading this, you.... are our last hope...
