The Infected Bestiary Empty
PostSubject: The Infected Bestiary   The Infected Bestiary EmptyTue Aug 11, 2009 10:13 am

Infected Bestiary

The pictures are above the descriptions.

Spoiler:

Common Infected: These creatures are slow and docile until startled, but they will travel towards the smell of human flesh. They cannot move faster than a slow walk and have no intelligence whatsoever. These zombies have a strong desire to feast upon human flesh and will do anything to get to it. These zombies are physically weak and can easily be pushed aside. These zombies can only be killed if the brain is destroyed or severed from the rest of their body. For example shooting a zombie in the head would kill them, breaking their neck would kill them, cutting their head off would kill them, etc. This are the most commonly seen infected, and one of the easiest to dispatch, though they are almost never alone...

Spoiler:

Enraged Infected: Sometimes referred to as "Runners". These creatures are much stronger and faster than their predecessor's; capable of sprinting, jumping, climbing, punching, and other various physical activities, though they cannot swim. These zombies never grow tired and will stop at nothing to get their feast upon human flesh. In order for a common infected to mutate into an enraged infected, it must consume a good amount of human flesh Not every zombie gets to have a bite, meaning that the common infected will stay the most common zombie. These zombies can only be killed if the brain is destroyed or severed from the rest of their body.

Spoiler:

Infectors: These creatures fly very fast, being a big factor in why the infection spread so quickly. In appearance, these creatures look like a headless bat made from dead human material. The strange winged Infector acts as a vector for the disease, though it's not the only one, it merely helps it spread more quickly. Only attacking or defending itself when it cannot find any hosts to infect, its wings are formed by a flap of skin between the host's distorted arms and legs, with the head utterly unrecognizable, reduced to a strange proboscis. This weapon is the delivery mechanism used to infect potential hosts, which is done by enveloping the host in its wings and stabbing the proboscis into the corpse's skull to inject a yellow fluid stored in the creature's bladder. In any room with the remains of crew members, these are the beasts that should be taken down quickly before you get overrun with newly created Infected. They seem to have a preference for corpses which have existing head wounds, possibly because this spares them having to crack the skull themselves.

Spoiler:

Infected Dog: These are extremely vicious and bite much harder than the human infected. They are just as fast as a dog but they do not tire. They can travel alone or in packs, it just depends on how many dogs are around. Most of the smaller zombie dogs get eaten by the bigger ones, making the zombie dogs even faster and stronger...If the creature consumes a large amount of infected flesh it will evolve into a Gore-Hound.

Spoiler:

Gore-Hound: These creatures are five times the size of normal infected dogs in both length and width. Their bones invert due to some weird mutations, causing it's internals to show. This creature is extremely vicious and is the lone wolf type, it will eat other infected animals if human flesh is not around, but if human flesh then they will work with every infected to get their meal. This infected is extremely durable and can take considerable punishment, about the same as a Berserker. This creature is also very strong, being able to charge straight through walls, but fortunately it is an animal with four legs. So it must use it's head to break the wall, barricade, door, window, etc. If the object is hard enough, it will send the creature in a daze, giving you the perfect opportunity to shoot it down. Like most infected it's weakness is the head.

Spoiler:

Infected Bird This happens when a bird feeds upon infected flesh, causing it to become infected as well. These creatures are never alone and will swarm you, and more than likely kill you...It is safest to be indoors when these creatures are around. If there is enough of them they will simultaneously strike together against a door, window, barricade, etc. The best weapon against these creatures is fire and explosives...Moltov, grenade, flamethrow, pipe bomb, etc. These are the best. Though a shotgun can take out a nice group of them due to it's wide ranged shot, so if there isn't to many but still a decent sized grou[, let's say you are going down a hall way, they are chasing you. You turn around unload a single shot gun shell, bam you'd kill all or at least most of them.

Spoiler:

Slasher: These creatures are a less common than the Enraged and Common infected, but they are far more deadly. They are mutated humans who have adapted to the infection on a higher level, this happens after an Enraged infected has fed enough. The infected grows two small arms inside their lower torso, these arms then rip the infected stomach open and free themselves, allowing them to be used. The infected's normal arms become longer and razor sharp, they use them to impale their opponents and rip them apart. These infected are known to brutally murder their victims. They are just as physically capable as an Enraged infected. These zombies go down once their brain has been destroyed or severed from the rest of the body.

Spoiler:

Boomer: These creatures are the suicide bombers of the Infected. With their legs fused together in a fleshy mass, and their bodies radically twisted and emaciated.. Exploders appear extremely slow, but will charge at a surprising speed, so as to force you into close combat. They then attempt to bludgeon survivor with the massive pustule on the end of their left arm, which is filled with some kind of ooze. If they succeed, then the pustule will explode, killing it and causing major injuries to anything in the blast radius. Due to their "one use" nature and fairly slow movement, they most often attack in large groups, which then attempt to overwhelm survivors. However, this group-swarm tactic also makes them dangerous to any infected nearby, including other Exploders

Spoiler:

Leaper: These creatures are a less common than the Enraged and Common infected, but they are far more deadly. They are mutated humans who have adapted to the infection on a higher level, this happens after an Enraged infected has fed enough. This infected has "evolved" beyond the needs of legs, growing a long scorpion-like tale. It's tail has a razor sharp blade made from their bone at the end of it, making for a deadly weapon. This infected can use it's tail as a spring to launch itself far distances, giving it it's name "The Leaper". These zombies go down once their brain has been destroyed or severed from the rest of the body.

Spoiler:

Lurker: These creatures are very uncommon since they can only be spawned by infecting a baby. When a baby is infected they are forced into a rapid growth due to the infection. This growth causes three large tentacles to spawn from it's back, using the child's internals to form them. The tentacles have small razor sharp bone spears at the end of them, making them extremely deadly weapons. The baby also grows many smaller legs from it's torso, similar to a centipedede. This allows it travel extremely fast, being able to jump and crawl around the place more quickly than most. These zombies go down once their brain has been destroyed or severed from the rest of the body.

Spoiler:

Pregnant: These creatures are rather uncommon, they are a variation of the slasher's. They share the same weapons and tactics, but they differ since Pregnants are much slower. These creatures are a little bit faster than common infected, but not by much. The pregnants are formed by a slasher feeding on another infected, causing it to collect more of the virus, creating the small creatures known as Swarms. These creatures live in the stomach of the pregnants, thus giving them their name. If this creatures stomach is shot, cut open, or damaged, it will release a deadly a deadly swarm of Swarms. The pregnants will also vomit here and there, when they vomit they release a small group of Swarms.

Spoiler:

Swarms: These creatures are only seen when a pregnant is nearby, making them very uncommon. They can rip some one apart about as quickly as a piranha, and are the size of a mouse. They are easy to kill, but there is never a small amount of them, making them rather deadly.

Spoiler:

Divider: These creatures are more common than most, but not as common as the Enraged or Common infected. They are slow, lanky, and rather physically weak. They seem no stronger than a common infected, but they are much more durable. They are impossible to kill, you must destroy every limb in order to get rid of this infected. This infected is also capable of splitting itself up. Each limb is a deadly weapon and can kill you. Though the limbs are easy to destroy, they move very fast and are hard to catch. The divider can split and reform itself as it sees fit, making them very trick opponents.

Spoiler:

Snatcher: This is a unique infected that is formed when the zombie dies a particularly gruesome death. This zombie can strech or grow its limbs to long distances. This zombie will grab it's prey and drag them a long distance to a dark corner or a high building. The Snatcher infected can be stopped in mid grab if it is shot in the arms or head. To kill this infected you must completely decapitate it. This zombie is of medium rarity, but only appears in very dark areas or cities.

Spoiler:

Stinger: The Stinger infected contains two poisons on the tip of it's tail. The first poison will paralyze the prey, allowing the Stinger infected to feed on the prey's body while it is still alive. If the Stinger infected feeds on his prey, it will eat everything but the head and the poison will settle in the brain causing the head to morph into a Stinger infected in about an hour. If the prey escapes after being paralyzed (Partners) the poison has no other lasting effects. The other poison is extremely painful and eventually deadly, a person killed by this poison will turn to a common zombie as soon as they die. Death happens in about 1 hour, if the poison is removed within the first 5 minutes the persons life can be saved. This infected is some what rare to encounter.

Spoiler:

Pouncer: This Infected is a more advanced and deadly version of the Leaper, when the Leaper consumes about 10 humans it evolves into a Pouncer Infected, this infected is very fast and can jump extremely long distances. When this creature lands on you it will rip you to shreds and the target usually turns into a Leaper. This infected has razor sharp claws and teeth, it's weakest spot is in the mouth, though a smaller target, it's mouth is constantly open, making it a vulnerable target. A well placed shot into the mouth could instantly kill it. This creature can also take a good amount of punishment before going down, it is immune to headshots, meaning it feels the same as a chest shot. It is common in cities, other than that it's fairly rare.

Spoiler:

Guardian: The Guardians are very intelligent, planning things through and working together with the other infected. These creatures are rather durable, being able to take many wounds before going down. This zombie's weak point is in the dead center of it's chest, if you shoot him in the head it will have the same effect as shooting a normal zombie in the chest. This zombie can camouflage into it's back ground like a Chameleon can, making him a very difficult enemy.

Spoiler:

Berserker:
Description: The berserker is a strong and hard to kill zombie. They are merciless brutes, who usually kill there victims in extremely brutal manners. This creature will not stop running down its prey, it is faster than the Juggernaut but weaker. These are monsters that are better to run from then to stand and fight. Be warned the more lead you pump into it, the madder it gets, the stronger it gets, the faster it gets. Head shot's do not kill this beast shooting it in the head is like hitting him in the arm, or chest...You must simply pump enough lead into him to kill him, or find another way to kill him. This infected is extremely unintelligent and is known for charging head first into it objects that are in it's way, but it only does this if human flesh is around. If the creature hits a hard enough object, it will be sent into a daze, giving you the chance to pump everything you've got into it. This creature is not very common, but is more common than the Brute or Juggernaut.

The Infected Bestiary Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Infected Bestiary   The Infected Bestiary EmptyFri Aug 14, 2009 9:39 am

Spoiler:

Sighters:Sighters are used to track survivors, their faces have become mutated, giving them many strange looking eyes. This grants them heat vision. They can be alone or in packs with other infected dogs/infected. They are quite easy to kill a head shot or side shot can put one of these thing's down.

Spoiler:

Screecher:These zombies died very painfully and screamed the evoulution makes them have a horde baiting scream.they have the limited ability to run but are like common infected in any other way.when they scream a horde of enraged and common infected head towards the sound to tear apart any thing they see.Screechers are easier to spot in a crowd because of the way the head looks like it was ripped apart by a cougar

Spoiler:

Wheezer:They resemble humans more than most of the other infected, except for their lungs, which are now many times the normal size of human lungs and located outside of their body, taking up most of their backs. They are constantly in a kneeling position because their arms and legs are fused together, and as a result are incapable of movement. A distinct strained breathing sound can be heard in the vicinity of a Wheezer, hence the name, poisonous gas is pumped from their overgrown lungs. Wheezers are virtually harmless; except while being close to them poisons the survivor's oxygen, they lack any offensive capability and can be dispatched quickly, though they are typically very well hidden.

Spoiler:

The Ambusher:A seemingly inconspicuous human corpse, slightly damaged, the Ambusher uses the element of surprise to extend the mutated corpse's head in an impossibly long distance towards the player and latch on to the player to either hold him still and distract him, not to mention disturb them , or drag him towards the Ambusher's body while a serrated blade, formerly the corpse's spine bursts out of the same orifice to kill the survivor. The main body appears to be incapable of movement, where in this case so much of the main body's mass has been transformed to make and store the Grabber's extremely long, muscular neck and spinal blade

Spoiler:

Sentry: The Sentry is the result of a Floater infected anchoring on the walls, and as a result this is what grows. You can tell when one is nearby when you hear moaning, groaning, or screaming. Quite possibly, the groaning is a lure for unwary survivors. However, some have been observed as being silent until engaged in combat. Unable to move and attack enemies unless they move up close to the Sentry, the Sentry can spew out small infected Swarms similar to the Pregnants.

Spoiler:

Crippler: The crippler is a 7 ft Infected and does not evolve from others it is it's own kind it has multiple bone's in his arm using them as projectiles.Crippler can fire them up to 30 feet with precision aim going for wounds instead of kills.Crippler works alone preferring it that way head shots are most effective but can take alot there.Encountering one of these is life threatening it has limited ammo but it also carries a spiked club that it uses to bash the skull in.It wonders around searching for prey there not very fast or strong being more like the snipers of the zombie world. They can hang upside down and drop from areas and fire at quick successions. Mostly found in the city's less than enraged but more than any other. Some wonder out into the country side for fun shooting. This creature can be dispatched rather easily.

Spoiler:

Alpha Pouncer
Description: The Alpha Pouncer is a highly evolved infected. Through its many kills the Alpha Pouncer has gained much respect due to its effective killing methods and is known to give commands to other Pouncers. An Alpha Pouncer is about 1.5 times the size of a Pouncer, standing well over 10 feet when not crouched. The Alpha Pouncer is far more intelligent than other Pouncers, due to the process of transforming into an Alpha involving devouring the grey matter of many living beings. Their mind is developed enough to give fairly intricate tactical commands to its followers while still remaining extremely brutal. The Alpha Pouncer rarely infects humans, as there is often very little tissue left to infect.Rarely appears outside of an infection epicenter. The Ratio of Pouncer to Alpha Pouncer is 29:1

Spoiler:

The Mimic: The Mimic infected can perfectly copy the voice of those it has killed, which allows it to lure people close to it, before it ambushed them and rips them to shreds. This infected moves exactly like a hmna, meaning from the back, he looks like a survivor, it is known to scream "Help me, someone!", to attract survivors into a swarm of infected, and possibly to their impending doom. This infected will even wait until the survivor is pratctically touching them before attacking. Not all of them look the same but every Mimic infected wears human clothing. Common in places with many infected. Rather rare outside of that.

Spoiler:

Blood Bats These things fly only at night and hate all forms of light they hide in the darkest part's of city's underground dark buildings that allow no light. They fly in flocks and can tear a person down within seconds stripping them to the bone. The Blood bats are always hungry they only know to eat and eat.To kill them use a strong U.V. light or stay in the light and there will be no trouble with these thing's.Some say there infected bat's mutated to what they are now.Avoid these if you can they can shatter glass so cars unless metal plated is unsafe stay in the light if you value your lives. Mostly found in city's and some country sides as long as there are dark caves around. They only come out at night when there is no moon or when the moon isn't very strong.

Spoiler:

Blood Worm Found in the most deserted of town the Blood worm will eat zombie and survivor alike. If you come across a city or town deserted a ground worm there. The ground worm sleeps deep underground using his senses to detect vibrations from things walking above. It breaks from the ground under people or zombie and swallows them hole it has teethe going down it's throat in a sawing motion so the death is very painful. There is only one ground worm since they are very territorial and work alone even when food is bountiful. They are a dangerous Infected nearly bullet proof the only way to kill this thing is to throw a big bomb into it's mouth since it is covered in hard armor plates completely bullet proof. These things are usually found near the heart of the deserted city's.

Spoiler:

Juggernaut: A juggernaut is extremely rare to encounter just as a brute is, and to be feared just as much. While the Juggernaut is much slower than the Brute, and does not share the exoskeleton of it. This beast is practically a giant walking meat shield, being able to take more punishment than any other infected. It is even stronger than the brute and has NO weak points. Avoid this creature at all costs, a battle with it will most likely end in death.

Spoiler:
Brute: These are the most brutal and powerful infected known so far. They are extremely strong, being able to throw cars like they were made of paper. Most of the creature is covered by a natural exoskeleton that serves as an armor. It's bones are practically bullet proof, making him nearly impossible to take down; that is unless you know where to shoot. This creature has many long spikes that protrude from it's exoskeleton, and it is known to use them as weapons. This creature has 6 limbs, it's two hind legs allow it to run at massive speeds, being able to charge straight through concrete walls; this creature runs similar to a gorilla. The two small arms that are located towards the middle of the creature rarely ever serve a purpose, but if you get close enough they will grab you, which will lead to a terribly violent death. It's two front arms are used for running and combat, stay out of his way or you will die. The brutes are known to violently murder their victims, ripping them in half, tearing them limb from limb, decapitation, or eating them alive. Which ever it prefers that day. This creature has few weak points, and it's head is not one of them. The weak points are the neck, the small arms on the side of him, underneath it's arms and legs, basically any small portion on it's body that is NOT covered by bone. This creature is actually not very tough, a few rounds to it's weakspot and it's dead. You can kill it with out shooting it's weak points, but it would take a very long time and you would most likely die, or run out of bullets first. These creatures are to be feared and not to be messed with, avoid them if you can.
