Infected BestiaryThe pictures are above the descriptions.
- Spoiler:
Common Infected: These creatures are slow and docile until startled, but they will travel towards the smell of human flesh. They cannot move faster than a slow walk and have no intelligence whatsoever. These zombies have a strong desire to feast upon human flesh and will do anything to get to it. These zombies are physically weak and can easily be pushed aside. These zombies can only be killed if the brain is destroyed or severed from the rest of their body. For example shooting a zombie in the head would kill them, breaking their neck would kill them, cutting their head off would kill them, etc. This are the most commonly seen infected, and one of the easiest to dispatch, though they are almost never alone...
- Spoiler:
Enraged Infected: Sometimes referred to as "Runners". These creatures are much stronger and faster than their predecessor's; capable of sprinting, jumping, climbing, punching, and other various physical activities, though they cannot swim. These zombies never grow tired and will stop at nothing to get their feast upon human flesh. In order for a common infected to mutate into an enraged infected, it must consume a good amount of human flesh Not every zombie gets to have a bite, meaning that the common infected will stay the most common zombie. These zombies can only be killed if the brain is destroyed or severed from the rest of their body.
- Spoiler:
Infectors: These creatures fly very fast, being a big factor in why the infection spread so quickly. In appearance, these creatures look like a headless bat made from dead human material. The strange winged Infector acts as a vector for the disease, though it's not the only one, it merely helps it spread more quickly. Only attacking or defending itself when it cannot find any hosts to infect, its wings are formed by a flap of skin between the host's distorted arms and legs, with the head utterly unrecognizable, reduced to a strange proboscis. This weapon is the delivery mechanism used to infect potential hosts, which is done by enveloping the host in its wings and stabbing the proboscis into the corpse's skull to inject a yellow fluid stored in the creature's bladder. In any room with the remains of crew members, these are the beasts that should be taken down quickly before you get overrun with newly created Infected. They seem to have a preference for corpses which have existing head wounds, possibly because this spares them having to crack the skull themselves.
- Spoiler:
Infected Dog: These are extremely vicious and bite much harder than the human infected. They are just as fast as a dog but they do not tire. They can travel alone or in packs, it just depends on how many dogs are around. Most of the smaller zombie dogs get eaten by the bigger ones, making the zombie dogs even faster and stronger...If the creature consumes a large amount of infected flesh it will evolve into a Gore-Hound.
- Spoiler:
Gore-Hound: These creatures are five times the size of normal infected dogs in both length and width. Their bones invert due to some weird mutations, causing it's internals to show. This creature is extremely vicious and is the lone wolf type, it will eat other infected animals if human flesh is not around, but if human flesh then they will work with every infected to get their meal. This infected is extremely durable and can take considerable punishment, about the same as a Berserker. This creature is also very strong, being able to charge straight through walls, but fortunately it is an animal with four legs. So it must use it's head to break the wall, barricade, door, window, etc. If the object is hard enough, it will send the creature in a daze, giving you the perfect opportunity to shoot it down. Like most infected it's weakness is the head.
- Spoiler:
Infected Bird This happens when a bird feeds upon infected flesh, causing it to become infected as well. These creatures are
never alone and will swarm you, and more than likely kill you...It is safest to be indoors when these creatures are around. If there is enough of them they will simultaneously strike together against a door, window, barricade, etc. The best weapon against these creatures is fire and explosives...Moltov, grenade, flamethrow, pipe bomb, etc. These are the best. Though a shotgun can take out a nice group of them due to it's wide ranged shot, so if there isn't to many but still a decent sized grou[, let's say you are going down a hall way, they are chasing you. You turn around unload a single shot gun shell, bam you'd kill all or at least most of them.
- Spoiler:
Slasher: These creatures are a less common than the Enraged and Common infected, but they are far more deadly. They are mutated humans who have adapted to the infection on a higher level, this happens after an Enraged infected has fed enough. The infected grows two small arms inside their lower torso, these arms then rip the infected stomach open and free themselves, allowing them to be used. The infected's normal arms become longer and razor sharp, they use them to impale their opponents and rip them apart. These infected are known to brutally murder their victims. They are just as physically capable as an Enraged infected. These zombies go down once their brain has been destroyed or severed from the rest of the body.
- Spoiler:
Boomer: These creatures are the suicide bombers of the Infected. With their legs fused together in a fleshy mass, and their bodies radically twisted and emaciated.. Exploders appear extremely slow, but will charge at a surprising speed, so as to force you into close combat. They then attempt to bludgeon survivor with the massive pustule on the end of their left arm, which is filled with some kind of ooze. If they succeed, then the pustule will explode, killing it and causing major injuries to anything in the blast radius. Due to their "one use" nature and fairly slow movement, they most often attack in large groups, which then attempt to overwhelm survivors. However, this group-swarm tactic also makes them dangerous to any infected nearby, including other Exploders
- Spoiler:
Leaper: These creatures are a less common than the Enraged and Common infected, but they are far more deadly. They are mutated humans who have adapted to the infection on a higher level, this happens after an Enraged infected has fed enough. This infected has "evolved" beyond the needs of legs, growing a long scorpion-like tale. It's tail has a razor sharp blade made from their bone at the end of it, making for a deadly weapon. This infected can use it's tail as a spring to launch itself far distances, giving it it's name "The Leaper". These zombies go down once their brain has been destroyed or severed from the rest of the body.
- Spoiler:
Lurker: These creatures are very uncommon since they can only be spawned by infecting a baby. When a baby is infected they are forced into a rapid growth due to the infection. This growth causes three large tentacles to spawn from it's back, using the child's internals to form them. The tentacles have small razor sharp bone spears at the end of them, making them extremely deadly weapons. The baby also grows many smaller legs from it's torso, similar to a centipedede. This allows it travel extremely fast, being able to jump and crawl around the place more quickly than most. These zombies go down once their brain has been destroyed or severed from the rest of the body.
- Spoiler:
Pregnant: These creatures are rather uncommon, they are a variation of the slasher's. They share the same weapons and tactics, but they differ since Pregnants are much slower. These creatures are a little bit faster than common infected, but not by much. The pregnants are formed by a slasher feeding on another infected, causing it to collect more of the virus, creating the small creatures known as Swarms. These creatures live in the stomach of the pregnants, thus giving them their name. If this creatures stomach is shot, cut open, or damaged, it will release a deadly a deadly swarm of Swarms. The pregnants will also vomit here and there, when they vomit they release a small group of Swarms.
- Spoiler:
Swarms: These creatures are only seen when a pregnant is nearby, making them very uncommon. They can rip some one apart about as quickly as a piranha, and are the size of a mouse. They are easy to kill, but there is never a small amount of them, making them rather deadly.
- Spoiler:
Divider: These creatures are more common than most, but not as common as the Enraged or Common infected. They are slow, lanky, and rather physically weak. They seem no stronger than a common infected, but they are much more durable. They are impossible to kill, you must destroy every limb in order to get rid of this infected. This infected is also capable of splitting itself up. Each limb is a deadly weapon and can kill you. Though the limbs are easy to destroy, they move very fast and are hard to catch. The divider can split and reform itself as it sees fit, making them very trick opponents.
- Spoiler:
Snatcher: This is a unique infected that is formed when the zombie dies a particularly gruesome death. This zombie can strech or grow its limbs to long distances. This zombie will grab it's prey and drag them a long distance to a dark corner or a high building. The Snatcher infected can be stopped in mid grab if it is shot in the arms or head. To kill this infected you must completely decapitate it. This zombie is of medium rarity, but only appears in very dark areas or cities.
- Spoiler:
Stinger: The Stinger infected contains two poisons on the tip of it's tail. The first poison will paralyze the prey, allowing the Stinger infected to feed on the prey's body while it is still alive. If the Stinger infected feeds on his prey, it will eat everything but the head and the poison will settle in the brain causing the head to morph into a Stinger infected in about an hour. If the prey escapes after being paralyzed (Partners) the poison has no other lasting effects. The other poison is extremely painful and eventually deadly, a person killed by this poison will turn to a common zombie as soon as they die. Death happens in about 1 hour, if the poison is removed within the first 5 minutes the persons life can be saved. This infected is some what rare to encounter.
- Spoiler:
Pouncer: This Infected is a more advanced and deadly version of the Leaper, when the Leaper consumes about 10 humans it evolves into a Pouncer Infected, this infected is very fast and can jump extremely long distances. When this creature lands on you it will rip you to shreds and the target usually turns into a Leaper. This infected has razor sharp claws and teeth, it's weakest spot is in the mouth, though a smaller target, it's mouth is constantly open, making it a vulnerable target. A well placed shot into the mouth could instantly kill it. This creature can also take a good amount of punishment before going down, it is immune to headshots, meaning it feels the same as a chest shot. It is common in cities, other than that it's fairly rare.
- Spoiler:
Guardian: The Guardians are very intelligent, planning things through and working together with the other infected. These creatures are rather durable, being able to take many wounds before going down. This zombie's weak point is in the dead center of it's chest, if you shoot him in the head it will have the same effect as shooting a normal zombie in the chest. This zombie can camouflage into it's back ground like a Chameleon can, making him a very difficult enemy.
- Spoiler:
Berserker:Description: The berserker is a strong and hard to kill zombie. They are merciless brutes, who usually kill there victims in extremely brutal manners. This creature will not stop running down its prey, it is faster than the Juggernaut but weaker. These are monsters that are better to run from then to stand and fight. Be warned the more lead you pump into it, the madder it gets, the stronger it gets, the faster it gets. Head shot's do not kill this beast shooting it in the head is like hitting him in the arm, or chest...You must simply pump enough lead into him to kill him, or find another way to kill him. This infected is extremely unintelligent and is known for charging head first into it objects that are in it's way, but it only does this if human flesh is around. If the creature hits a hard enough object, it will be sent into a daze, giving you the chance to pump everything you've got into it. This creature is not very common, but is more common than the Brute or Juggernaut.
